BOB WILLIS
As Bereavement Coordinator for Hospice of Oklahoma County since June of 1995, Bob provides grief support and counseling for families, facilitates grief support groups for the community, and is a frequent speaker on grief and loss issues. He is also affiliated with the National Caregiver’s Library as a writer and speaker on caregiving issues. His book “The Ultimate Caregiver: Words from the Cross to the Caregiver’s Heart” is to be nationally released in November, 2008.
Bob has received training by the Grief Recovery Institute, the American Academy of Bereavement, the Center for Loss and Life Transition, and the Traumatology Institute of Florida State University. In June of 2003 Bob became a Certified Funeral Celebrant, trained to meet the needs of families during a time of loss through the planning of a funeral service. He has been an ordained Southern Baptist minister since 1978, pastoring churches in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Oklahoma.
Bob has been a sculptor for over 12 years, specializing in portrait busts. He operated the Rocking W Gallery at the First Monday Trade Days in Canton, Texas, for 5 ½ years, and was also a demonstrating sculptor at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri, during the 2005 festivals. He and his wife, Lynn, have presented “The Gospel in Clay” for churches, civic groups, and other venues for several years. They live in Edmond, OK, are the parents of a son, Eric, and a daughter, Kristi. They are also the proud grandparents of 7 grandsons and 1 grandaughter.
